new Resturant venture into San Francisco Ferry building this summer. eater The news spread that the famous Filipino fusion restaurant Senor Sesig will move to the old brown sugar kitchen The space, which closed in early 2020.

Señor Sisig launched as a food truck in San Francisco in 2010, eventually opening brick-and-mortar locations in San Francisco And Auckland Where the Filipino burrito and taco gained popularity. The restaurant is also planning to replace the small Auckland restaurant with a new, larger restaurant site with full bar later this year.

The location of the upcoming Ferry Building in Señor Sisig will feature all the restaurant’s best work (burritos, tacos, and nachos with Filipino flavors), including a vegan menu like the one available in Auckland. However, there will be some new elements exclusive to the Ferry Building, including shareable meals and a seafood selection inspired by the waterfront location. Señor Sisig is also partnering with Humphrey Slocombe on the business – a “Churron” ice cream flavor, which will combine sweet Filipino snack Turon with chunks of churro.

There will be cocktails, too, a first for Señor Sisig, though co-founders Gil Payumo and Evan Kidera are still looking for someone who can help revive their Philippine and Mexican-inspired cocktail list (think flavors like ube, pandan, and calamansi), according to for Eater. The site will also have both indoor and outdoor spaces.

“The Ferry Building is one of the most iconic sites in the city,” Kidera said in a press release. “As a born and raised San Franciscan, opening Senior Sesig here is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Among our loyal local followers and visitors from around the world who come to the Ferry Building, we are excited to share our Filipino food and culture from this space.”
