The mayor of the city of Gostomel, northwest of Kiev, was killed in the fighting
The town hall of Kiev, the mayor of the military base in northwestern Kiev, was killed by Russian forces on Monday, the city’s town hall, on the twelfth day of the Ukrainian invasion.
“Mayor of the City of Costome, Yuri Ilyich Prilipko He died while distributing bread and medicine to the sick and comforting the wounded, ”the city of Costome wrote in a statement on its official Facebook page.
“No one forced him to face the bullets of the enemy. He could have been hidden in the cellar like hundreds. (…) but he made his decision,” the statement added, recalling part of his life. His commitment after the Russian invasion. “He died for the community, died for the costumel, died as a hero. Eternal remembrance and our thanks”, greets City Hall.
In the Gostomel region northwest of Kiev is the Antonov military airport, which was attacked by Russian forces on February 25, the day after the start of the Ukrainian invasion. “Considering the circumstances,” Costomelin’s Town Hall notes, “it is not possible to be invited to the funeral.”
