If 49ers quarterback Jim Garoppolo He didn’t need shoulder surgery off-season, it’s possible he could have been traded. One possible destination seemed to be the Miami Dolphins.
“They were in the conversation,” Garoppolo told reporters Thursday about the dolphins. “Not much came of it, but they were definitely one of the teams in the conversation. It seemed like a good place. As an offense, that’s players with tremendous skill, everything they get there. Mike[McDaniel]being such a great coach, I’ve been with him in the past and it’s been discussed, but I’m glad The way things turned out.”
It is unclear if Garoppolo will go to Miami as a starter, reserve, or as part of an open competition. McDaniel made a FaceTime call to Toa Tagovailoa Upon getting the job, he created the distinct impression that Toa was the man.
Given what the 49ers were supposed to want for Garoppolo, it’s hard to imagine the Dolphins could have made that investment in backup.
However, Garoppolo said what he said. The dolphins were at least “into the conversation”. When the Dolphins come to Santa Clara for Sunday’s game against the 49ers, they’re an interesting addition to the overall conversation.
