The next generation NUC Extreme will be larger than the 12th generation product (13.9L chassis vs. 8L chassis). So Intel continues the trend of moving away from the small form factor of the most powerful NUC series, but that doesn’t mean Intel is giving up on smaller products.

On the contrary, the company has already announced NUC 12 Enthusiasr and NUC 12 Pro A string, each representing a different form factor and a different use (games and business). The Extreme series is designed to be a desktop replacement, with the option to upgrade CPU, storage or memory, not to mention graphics.

The new generation NUC Extreme will fit larger desktop cards, though Intel has released two-slot Arc A7 Limited Edition GPUs. The NUC 13 Extreme will also fit custom Arc A7 2.5 and 3-slot cards from companies like ASRock or GUNNIR. The official presentation at TwitchCon featured a GeForce RTX 30 GPU and an unannounced Raptor Lake processor.
