Categorized files were found to be empty

Doubts and questions are mounting about the government documents former US President Donald Trump took home after his term ended.

A detailed list of items seized from the Mar-a-Lago (Florida) residence released on Friday, September 2, shows that FBI agents found dozens of blank files marked “classified” in Donald Trump’s office. Important documents may be lost or destroyed.

The list, compiled by the Justice Department, reveals the contents of thirty-three boxes and cases recovered from Donald Trump’s office and a storage room at Mar-a-Lago during the Aug. 8 search. While the inventory did not detail the contents of the documents, the extent to which classified information – including “top secret” documents – were hidden in boxes and mixed with newspapers, magazines, clothing and other personal items.

The document also showed that Mr Trump had more than 11,000 classified, government-related unclassified documents. He says he has a right to keep them, but they legally go to the National Archives. Of the documents seized during the police operation, eighteen documents were classified as “Top Secret”, fifty-four as “Secret” and thirty-one as “Secret”.
